We are excited to welcome students who are considering joining Whanganui Girls' College in 2027!
Our entrance scholarships are an opportunity for students to showcase their strengths, celebrate their learning and take the next step in their educational journey.
We know that examinations can sometimes feel a little daunting, particularly when preparing to begin secondary school. We want every applicant to feel confident, informed and supported throughout the experience.
What to Expect on the Day
As part of the scholarship process, students will complete an academic examination covering a range of learning areas. We have also created an interactive study workbook to help you prepare, practise your skills and build your confidence before the big day.
We also want to get to know you!
During the examination period, each student will have a short, five-minute interview with a Whanganui Girls' College Old Girl (a former student of our school).
This is a chance for you to share a little about yourself, your interests, your achievements and what you're looking forward to about coming to WGC. The interview will also help us get to know you beyond your examination results and support our scholarship decisions.
There is no need to prepare a formal speech. Just come ready to have a friendly conversation and tell us a little about what makes you, you!
Shared Kai and Making New Friends
Once the examinations have finished, we'll come together for some shared kai and an opportunity to meet other students who will be starting at Whanganui Girls' College in 2027.
It's a great chance to make some new connections, meet some friendly faces and start feeling part of the WGC whānau before your first day!
Getting Ready
Our advice is simple: give everything a go, practise regularly and remember that showing your thinking is just as important as getting the correct answer.
Most importantly, come along ready to be yourself. We look forward to meeting you!
